Films, Videogames and Comics - aka Graphic Novels - are naturally and ever-increasingly symbiotic. Installed and overlapping fan bases, compatible aesthetics, multimedia-savvy talent, and marketing synergy often combine to translate intellectual properties between these media. Yet these translations are rarely as effective or profitable as they could be. A great game does not inherently make a great film; a milestone graphic novel isn't automatically a multimillion dollar videogame candidate. And sometimes, properties that should make the leap miss their opportunities. Among the Panel topics are: the importance of story and characterization, brand awareness, aesthetics, production/release schedules, financial considerations, and overall licensor/producer/developer/publisher creative and collaborative issues that arise in translating icons from one medium into another.
