The session will show how source-filter synthesis can provide an unlimited number of sound variations using a single sound file processed efficiently in real-time. Using this technique, memory requirements and production costs can be drastically reduced, while increasing sound variety to avoid repetition. Controlling the sound transformation at runtime is also possible, to increase interactivity based on the game context. This session will detail the main components of source-filter synthesis techniques which consist of the signal modeling phase, model transformations, and real-time synthesis. The presentation will feature many sound transformation demonstrations, as well as technical details of different implementation strategies.
