This session demonstrates tips and techniques for increasing the quality and quantity of 3D modeling. There are many different ways to generate final normal maps for low-poly models, and knowing when to use certain techniques to achieve the best possible results is essential.^/BR^^/BR^ The concepts are presented using a combination of live modeling demonstrations and final in-game examples from Epic’s upcoming GEARS OF WAR. While these tips are presented within the example of the Epic art pipeline, they can be easily applied to similar packages and production environments.

Attendees take away 3D modeling production tips and techniques to become more efficient and productive when creating next-generation 3D assets.

This session is geared towards intermediate 3D modelers who want to learn additional productivity and production tips for modeling high poly assets. Although the session is application specific it is still applicable to other tool sets with similar functionality. Tools utilized in the presentation include: 3d Max v7, 3d Max plugs & utils, Zbrush v2, Photoshop CS, and Unreal Engine 3. Experience Level: Intermediate - Basic familiarity or some with some/all of the programs covered. Existing knowledge of normal maps and creating 3D assets for next-gen games.
