Description: Since its inception, the mobile marketplace has inspired many people and businesses to try to create great little games. Some people cite nostalgia as the reasons, others are compelled by the massive numbers of cell phones in the marketplace. While EA has acquired the title of market leader, the bulk of its revenues comes from a small handful of titles of modest production value. How is this marketplace growing? What are the challenges in entering the mobile marketplace? What are the common traits of top sellers and where is the hit that will bring the mass market to connect with their phones? Through a mix of empirical observations of five years of building a marketplace, and an examination of past platform launches, the speaker will provide clarity to the audience as to why mobile continues to be a marketplace, and is not yet a thriving industry.
Idea Takeaway: Attendees of this presentation will learn the secrets of the growing mobile content marketplace and wonder why exactly anyone still wants a job on a next generation console project.
Intended Audience: Everyone interested in bringing content to the biggest potential mass market platform should attend this presentation.
