In this high energy Game Studies download, our panel of leading game researchers will present its top 10 list of findings that academic game scholars have uncovered in the past year. Topics likely to make our top 10 list include: ethnographic research into how women choose which games to play; social network theory and its impact on massively multiplayer game communities; educational theory research on assessment of game-based learning; and design research on the psychology of mobile and pervasive games. We will close with a sneak preview of major research efforts currently underway at top game studies programs around the world, and we invite the audience to provide feedback on the topics they would like to see scholars address.

CONCEPT: A panel of leading game researchers will present the top 10 findings in academic game studies from the past year and explore how these cutting-edge findings are directly applicable to the design and business of videogames. TAKEAWAY: Attendees will gain a strategic perspective on scholarly insights into player behaviors, gameplay psychology, design research and more, and take away resources for following up on the reseach findings that interest them most.
