This session provides an in depth look into the technology that made MORTAL KOMBAT vs. DC UNIVERSE possible - the modifications made by Midway Chicago to Epic's UnrealEngine 3 that enabled it to run at 60 Hz and still achieve its powerful look. Featured will be changes made to the rendering backend for post-processing and character lighting, and specific focus will be spent overviewing how Epic's Cascade particle engine was ported to run on SPUs on the PS3. There will additionally be a discussion on how one would approach achieving 60 Hz under UE3 in a more general case.
