With all of the advanced techniques available for sound manipulation, the content creator often finds him or herself needing to learn a new acronym or concept every day. These 'plain english' talks will attempt translate some of these tech-heavy concepts into accessible explanations, using terminology that artists understand. In this talk, we will discuss how 3D implementations typically function, including the concept of a 'listener', modeling distance-based volume rolloff, speaker positioning, Doppler simulation, and other aspects of sound positioning. We will also break down the various aspects of an I3DL2 reverberation effect, as well as how I3DL2 occlusion and obstruction function.
