Women and Games in the Future

Speakers: Carrie Heeter, Don Daglow, Kimberley Ann Sparks, Sheri Graner Ray

Track: IGDA

Format: Panel

Experience Level: All

Description: This session looks at the two closely linked topics of what the future holds for women in game development and the types of games that will be available for girls and women in the future. Though no one has a crystal ball, these game industry professionals glimpse into the future and give us their thoughts and predictions of what these topics might look like 5, 10, and 25 years from now. The panel includes a short video of brief interviews with girls and women who aren't in the industry, but who have definite opinions on how they see the future for women in game development and what games they hope will be available to them in the next 25 years.

Idea Takeaway: This session provides unique outlooks on what the next 25 years might look like for women and games, which may help those in the industry today deal with the associated issues of getting more women in the business and coming up with the next best-selling game for girls and women.

Intended Audience: This session is intended for all, particularly anyone interested in involving more women in the games industry as well as people developing games for girls and women.
