The Golden Nickel: Moving Beyond 5% Market Share

Speakers: Leighton Webb, Louis Fasulo, Nicolas Beraudo, Scott Rubin, Shalom Mann

Track: Mobile: Deals & Distribution

Format: Panel

Experience Level: All

Description: The mobile gaming audience has been hovering around five - seven percent of the install base and showing no real immediate signs of growth. Yet, the online causal game market is growing by 15-20 percent yearly and showing no signs of slowing down. The console sector is expected to grow again with Nintendo inviting audiences to play games in a brand new way, and all three major systems having a digital download service.

Is 5 - 7 percent the best that the mobile gaming market can do? Can mobile game developers and publishers help expand the marketplace on their own? Can new users be introduced to mobile gaming through better game design?

This session brings together designers, producers and executives from leading mobile game publishers and developers to discuss their theories on how they can unlock the potential mass audience that so far has eluded us all.

Idea Takeaway: Session will provide mobile publishers and developers insight and thought provoking questions on how best to expand the mobile game marketplace through game design and new business models. Attendees will be able to take this knowledge and apply it to their future decision making processes in designing games for the widest possible audience.

Intended Audience: Mobile publishers and developers interested in expanding the mobile game marketplace through creativity and new business models. The panel discussion should be at a high enough level that anyone with a basic understanding of the mobile game space will find the session interesting if not educational.
